Bhuta Shudhi bija visualisation

Hoping someone can clear this up for me: when doing Bhuta shudhi and we are told to visualise the bija as being located in a certain part of the body how are we doing that? Am I to visualise the word itself eg “lam” or am I just accompanying the sound with a visualisation of say earth element within my body?

The sound is the most important part but the word is also important. I personally visualize the bija and feel the sound emanating from it. Also, what is the sound? It is the tatva itself. Ultimately you should be able to "feel" the unity between them.
