I probably should have done some Googling earlier, because I've been wishing for the ability to play Acaryaji's course lecture videos on iOS with the screen turned off for a good number of months now. Last night I learned about a way to do this, that I'm thrilled to be able to share:

One of the buttons in the video player triggers iOS' "Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode. This makes the video player break out into a little hovering window, so it's not just playing in the web browser's media player.

If you trigger PiP mode, and THEN swipe up from the buttom of your screen so the PiP video player is hovering over your home screen and app icons, you can then shut off the screen and the video's audio will keep playing! You must close out the web browser from being what the PiP media player is hovering over, or it won't work and the video's audio will stop playing when you shut off the screen. But if you close the browser so the PiP video player is over the home screen, it works perfectly!

I'm soooo excited to now be able to listen to Acaryaji's lectures on walks, in my car, etc. Hopefully this is useful to some of you as well! Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm doing this using the DuckDuckGo iOS browser, but the technique should work with all iOS browsers, so long as you enable the PiP video player, and then swipe away from the browser window before shutting off the screen.
