I had created my altar with many idols and photos when I had very little knowledge about them. I had not done prana pratishtha and the usual offerings of flowers and dhoop has become lengthy. I have been getting thoughts of creating a completely new altar with Devi Lalitha Ambika as the central deity. Since many here are knowledgeable of the shastras, what do you recommend I do. Should I offer up the idols in one of the natural elements (in India we usually offer up idols in a flowing body of water)? What is the most minimalistic way to worship the Mother without initiation? Is it necessary to do Prana Pratishtha done? If yes then is it necessary that a Pundit must be called, or is there a way to do it ourselves? Should I wait till I get initiated or should I go about the changes now? The thought of making the changes has been around for atleast two months now.
